In Port Colborne, along the Old Welland Canal, is the Mud Lake Conservation Area.  The wide, well-maintained trails boast curves and hills of varying heights that beg to be rode.  My husband and I set out for hiking that day and soon realized that this site would be a blast for mountain biking.  We had a great time hiking, but I definitely recommend you hit this Conservation area with bikes or even a canoe.

Mud Lake is a stopping point for migratory birds, so it’s possible to see some unusual species here.  I did see a pileated woodpecker and heard wood ducks.  We also saw green and mink frogs and heard bull frogs at the lake’s edge.
